Our History

The Community Food Pantry began in 1983 with a desire to relieve the stress of unemployment in the Merrill area. Local churches were invited to join in the endeavor. Initially, the pantry was housed at the Scott Mansion. Since that time, it has undergone four moves.

  1. St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ

  2. The HELP Center

  3. The Former Lincoln County Bank Bldg.

  4. The Menard Center

    503 S. Center Ave, Suite #3

Funding

The food pantry relies on the generosity of Merrill community.

We are thankful to many churches, organizations, businesses, schools, clubs, and individuals who continue to donate food items and contribute monetarily to help us help others.

The pantry also receives an annual grant from Merrill Area United Way.

Volunteers

The food pantry operates with a very dedicated and enthusiastic group with over 70 volunteers.

Statistics

In 2018 the pantry served 7031 individuals.  Almost 36% of those served were children.

Over 150,000 pounds of food was donated by the Merrill Community in 2018.
